Free AI Mock Interview: A Realistic 15-Min/Day Plan (Desktop)

Fifteen minutes, one surface, no card. The free mock is that block on the desktop app you will open for the live round.

A desktop microphone and a monitor showing a circular timer, set up for a short spoken practice block.

A free AI mock interview on HIDEA AI is 15 session minutes a day on the desktop app, with no credit card. You pick one surface (Verbal, Live coding, System design, or Project), speak or type each answer yourself, and stop when the timer ends. Scored mock rounds are part of the paid plans.

HIDEA AI is a desktop copilot for that day. Three things decide it. Verbal, Live coding, System design, and Project are in one desktop app. The practice block and the live round are that same app. You still speak or type every answer. On a live call the overlay is skipped by screen share.

What free means

Free means the download, no credit card, and 15 session minutes each calendar day. Each day starts at fifteen. Skipping a day does not bank the minutes.

The app is a macOS and Windows desktop app. It is not a browser extension and not a meeting plugin. Live help on the free plan is there when you install. There is no waitlist.

Those minutes cover Verbal, Live coding, System design, and Project. Spend a day on one of them. When you need more time than fifteen minutes, move to Pro.

The 15-minute day

Pick the surface before you open the app. The fifteen minutes belong to that surface. The other three wait until another day.

  1. Pick one surface. Verbal, Live coding, System design, or Project. Write the role in one line if you have not already. Then start. More setup is a way to spend the minutes without answering.
  2. Run the block. Speak or type the answer yourself. Stop when the fifteen minutes end, even if the answer is unfinished. Going long teaches you that the timer is optional.
  3. Write one fix. One sentence you will say differently next time. Then close the app. A second pass the same day only repeats the version you just patched.

Set a timer you can see before you start. Open the one surface. Take one question you have not answered this week. Speak or type until the answer is done or the timer ends, whichever comes first. If you finish early, take one follow-up and still stop at fifteen. A second question only fills the clock with another weak start.

A week of this is five blocks, not a course. Monday, the surface you stall on. Tuesday through Thursday, the other three, one each. Friday, Monday's surface again, and only the sentence you wrote down. Leave the weekend unless a round sits inside it.

Fifteen minutes will not hold a full coding round or a full design round. When the timer is the thing you keep hitting, move to Pro. If one block a day is what you actually do, the free plan is the plan.

What should a free AI mock interview include?

Judge a free mock by what it makes you do, not by its feature list. A useful one has a clock, takes spoken answers, lets you choose the round type, and stops when time is up. A chat box that answers for as long as you keep typing has none of those.

On HIDEA AI the free plan lists the same four surfaces as the paid plans, live transcription, custom shortcuts, saved setups and interview history, inside 15 session minutes a day. The scored spoken mock rounds and the larger credit allotment are on Pro. The pricing page has the full comparison.

  • Free: 15 minutes a day, all four surfaces, no credit card.
  • Pro: more time, credits each month and scored mock rounds.
  • Either way you speak or type every answer yourself.

Same app for practice and the live round

The block and the live round open the same desktop app. You are not learning a routine you will drop the week of the call.

You still give the answer. The app can put a structure in front of you. You speak or type the words they hear, and you follow the rules of the interview you agreed to.

On a live call the overlay is skipped by screen share. Check the share preview and confirm the overlay is absent before you count on that. A practice block has no call attached. Use the minutes to find the sentence you do not have yet.

Where the longer versions are

This page is the day. How a single surface should go is already written, and copying it here would turn the fifteen minutes into reading.

Run today's fifteen

HIDEA AI is a desktop copilot for a free AI mock interview you can repeat: Verbal, Live coding, System design, and Project, the practice and the live round on one desktop app, and you still speak or type every answer. Download it at https://hidea.ai/download, run one surface today, and move to Pro when fifteen minutes is not enough.

With a round on the calendar, the two-week technical interview preparation plan shows how to spread the practice.

Where to go next

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free AI mock interview that works on desktop?

Yes. HIDEA AI is a free download for macOS and Windows with 15 session minutes a day and no credit card. The free minutes cover Verbal, Live coding, System design, and Project. You speak or type each answer yourself. Scored mock rounds and more time are on the paid plans.

How long should a free mock interview block be?

Fifteen minutes is enough for one surface: one verbal answer plus a follow-up, the start of a coding problem, the scope of a design, or one decision from a project. A full coding or design round needs longer. Stop when the timer ends so the block stays a block.

Does the free plan reset every day?

The free plan gives 15 session minutes each calendar day. Each day starts at fifteen, and skipping a day does not bank the minutes. If one block a day matches how you practise, the free plan is enough. If you keep hitting the timer, Pro gives more room.

Can I use the free plan in a real interview?

Live help is on the free plan, with no waitlist, but use it only where the rules of your interview allow an assistant. You still speak or type every answer. The overlay is skipped by screen share, which you should confirm in the preview, and that is not a guarantee against dedicated proctoring software.
